Visit http://go.hrw.com for a web-based version of the print edition of "Elements of Literature" as well as a variety of features such as timelines, maps, and in depth author studies. There are interactive reading workshops, vocabulary-building activities and more.

Holt online essay scoring is also located at go.hrw.com and provides writing prompts, writing tips, activities, model essays and instant scoring.

To use some parts of this site, you will need your login name and password that were issued to you in Ms. Teresa's computer lab.

Language Arts 

Macmillan/McGraw-Hill Language Arts has a site designed to enrich your study of each unit in the textbook Their website at www.mhschool.com also has activities for math, reading, social studies, science, health and music. Just choose your subject and your book cover. This site is suffering from some broken links, but still has lots of activities and information to go with your textbook.

Also visit www.wordcentral.com for word games, dictionary, thesaurus and a unique 'build your own' dictionary activity.

Be sure to check out the activities for your Houghton Mifflin Math textbook at www.eduplace.com/kids/mw  There you will find extra help and practice, math games, brain teasers and more. Don’t miss the eManipulatives section which has multiplication tables, number lines, counters, fractions and more that you can use in doing your homework. Forgot your book at home? Ready. Set. go.hrw.com   This award winning Internet site from Holt, Rinehart and Winston allows you to enrich your knowledge with structured Web-based activities related to content in Holt Science and Technology. Select Middle School Science, then choose from Life, Earth or Physical Science to find your book and related activities.

SciLinks is a Web service developed and maintained by the National Science Teachers Associations that links you to resources directly related to chapter topics in Holt Science textbooks. Here is how it works:

  • See the SciLinks icon and keyword in your textbook.

  • Log on to www.scilinks.org and enter the keyword when prompted.

  • Link instantly to relevant Web sites directly related to the topic at hand. Clicking on any of the sites listed here takes you to the appropriate resources.

CNNfyi.com is the ultimate news and information site for students and teachers, containing News as it Happens, Classroom Resources, and a student site containing today's news and providing resources for classwork, research  and homework.

Social Studies

Your 6th grade Social Studies book, Human Heritage, A World History, has online activities at humanheritage.glencoe.com which web activities for each chapter, and chapter overviews with chapter content and key terms. The STUDENT CENTER includes 'Beyond the Textbook' interactive websites for extended knowledge, state resources, current events and the National Geographic MapMachine. At the bottom of the box marked STUDENT CENTER, select your unit and chapter chapter overviews, self-check quizzes, ePuzzles and Vocabulary eFlashcards. The Textbook resources include multi-language glossaries, web links and an online student edition. There is currently a problem with the login for the complete student edition, but the rest of the site works.
