The DCMS cheerleaders consist of girls in grades 5-8. A new squad is selected in the spring each year, usually in April. Once tryouts are over, the new team quickly begins fundraising to offset the expenses for the upcoming year.

During the summer, the cheerleaders attend camp to learn new material for the ball games. Throughout the school year the cheerleaders participate in many activities such as cheering at all ball games, pep-rallies, and local community events. The year is ended at the athletic banquet with the presentation of awards.
