Thought
for the Day:
Goals:
“If you would hit the mark, you must aim a little above
it.”
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
From the
Daily Book of Positive Quotations:
There’s
no shame in not meeting all of our goals, as long as our
goals make us stretch. If we want to run a marathon in
under three hours, we’ll train differently than if we want
to run it in four hours. Maybe we won’t finish in three
hours, but we’ll likely do better than if we were striving
for four.
Try and set realistic goals that challenge you and try hard
to meet them. Maybe, just maybe, you will achieve these
goals. But if you don’t, you still will have done well.
9/2/2010

This world, after all our
science and sciences, is still a miracle: wonderful,
inscrutable, magical and more, to whosoever will think it.”
Thomas Carlyle

it.” Colin Powell

Thought
for the Day:
Kindness: “You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never
know how soon it will be too late.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
We
shouldn’t wait for the perfect moment to give a compliment
or do a favor. Moments come and go too quickly. If we wait
for them, we’re likely to miss them altogether.
Don’t
miss the chance to be kind to those around you!
8/27/2010
Point 1:
We had three students to place in the cross-country track

7:15 in Ms. Pam Smith’s room (Rm. 1). Scotty Adams will be
in charge of the meetings.
Thought
for the Day:
Change: “Change before you have to.” Jack Welch.
When we
have to change, we change. When we have no other choice, we
do what we have to do. We may not like it – we may even
resent it – but we do it anyway, and we find a way to deal
with it. But what if instead of simply reacting to change,
we initiated change ourselves? What if we anticipated the
need for change and actively planned for it in both our
personal and professional lives? What is we acted before
change was forced on us?
If change is good – and it can be – maybe I should
deliberately push myself to change once in a while.
8/26/2010
Point 1:
The DCMS Panther Football Team will travel to Lexington to
take on the Beaver Hornets tonight at 7:00. The game is

t-shirt if you club or organization has shirts alike. The
only other t-shirts that can be worn are academic excellence

math-a-thon.
Thought
for the Day:
Anger: “Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with
the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one
who gets burned.” Buddha
It is
normal to get angry sometime. But I’ll do whatever I need
to do to let my anger go and move on with my life.
Like the hot coal, sometimes it is best just to drop it!
8/25/2010
Point 1:
The

in trying out for J.V. Basketball should go to the cafeteria
after the announcements at 2:15. Varsity girl’s team should
go to the locker room and change for conditioning.
Point 4:
Friday is “Student Clubs/Activities T-shirt Day.” If you
belong to a school club such as Student Council, Beta Club,
Top Ten (Academic Banquet), Drama, Cheerleader, Dance, St.
Jude Math-a-thon, Track, Band, Softball, or Basketball you
may wear you t-shirt Friday. The t-shirts must all be the
same for each individual group (for example: the
cheerleaders can’t just wear any cheerleader shirt they must
all be the same). See your sponsor or talk to Coach Walker
or Mr. V. if you have any questions before Friday.
Thought
for the Day:
Being Somebody: “I always wondered why somebody doesn’t do
something about that. Then I realized I was somebody.”
Lily Tomlin
When I
can, I won’t wait for somebody else to be responsible for
addressing a problem, I’ll take responsibility myself.

Thought
for the Day:
Time Out:
“Live with no time out.” Simone De Beauvoir
From
The Daily Book of Positive Quotations: We can’t push
the “pause” button on our lives. Every day counts, whether
we’re doing our best or our worst
But
even if we could call a time out when life becomes tense and
stressful, would we really want to? Our life’s clock keeps
ticking no matter what. The only thing we truly have is
time. Better to live every moment than to lose that time
forever.
As much as I may want to call a time out in my life, I will
live every moment as fully as I can.

Today: “Yesterday is ashes; tomorrow wood. Only today does
the fire burn brightly.” Eskimo Proverb
We are
here, right now, in the middle of today. We have many
wonderful memories of the past, and we have hopes for what
will happen in the future. But it’s today we are living.
Do not let today slip by without living it as fully as you
can.

“TRYING AGAIN -
"Big shots are only little shots who keep shooting".
Christopher Morley
Few people simply leap to the top of
their profession. Most get there incrementally - step by
step, experience by experience, and even mistake by mistake.
If we give up, we fail for certain. To have even a chance at
success, we have to keep reloading and taking aim at our
target.
Instead of complaining about how
frustrating our failures are and how others seem to have it
so much better than me, I will just keep plugging along
toward what I want.
