WHO IS SICK OF
SNOW????
RED, WHITE, and BLUE AMERICA? No, I think just WHITE!! There has
been snow on the ground in 49 states, thanks to an unusual
combination of weather patterns that dusted the U.S., including the
skyscrapers of Dallas, the peach trees of Atlanta and the Florida
Panhandle, where hurricanes
are more common than snowflakes.
Snowball fights broke out at
Southern Mississippi University, snow delayed flights at the busy
Atlanta airport, and Louisiana hardware stores ran out of snow
supplies. Andalusia, Ala. , shut down its streets because of snow.
And yet, Portland, Maine, where snow is usually a given, had to
cancel its winter festival for lack of snow.
WHY??? The strange snowfall pattern is produced by the EL Nino
weather phenomenon and it's Arctic counterpart. During moderate to
strong EL Niņo's like the current one, more moister is pumped into
the subtropical jet stream across the South, increasing
precipitation. Then there's the Arctic Oscillation, the Northern
cousin to EL Nino, which shifts cold polar air south. That cold air
can turn a rainstorm into a snowstorm. (Information courtesy of

2) Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories an hour.
3) Pearls melt in in vinegar.
4) Coca Cola was originally green.

A
Prayer in Spring
Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers
today;
And give us not to think so far away As the uncertain harvest;
keep us here All simply in the springing of the orchard white,
Like nothing else by day, like ghost by night; And make us happy
in the dating bird That suddenly above the bees is heard, The
meteor that thrust with needle bill, And off a blossom in
mid-air stands still. For this is love and nothing else is love,
The which it is reserved for God above To sanctify to what far
ends He will, But which it only needs that we fulfill.
